Anyway, today is definately taking a turn for the better. Turned out there was an audit this morning, but we seemed to have made it through well enough. With that out of the way I am free to continue gathering supplies for the camping con later in October.

Stuff I still need:
> More glowing stuff
> Maybe that super huge blacklight that Sey and I saw in the Halloween store.
> I need to get a prepaid card to purchase those samples online for Anjel.
> Get backup tents/party tents for our escape from the populated areas.
> Rope. You always need rope.
> Lots of stuff I can't think of at the moment.

Other than my constant excitement over the upcoming events there's a Left 4 Dead multiplayer throwdown at a friends place tonight.
I have an MP3 player plugged into the speakers at work so I can listen to dance music while I chat with friends and read over the Tyra Banks drama. That I am getting paid by the hour to do this is no bad thing =3

I just need to get the 26th off and I will be square for Oklacon, but so far I'm still stuck coming in that monday at 3pm. Here's hoping though. Along similar lines I just about have Sey roped into going along with me. I'm sure there are several friends of mine reading this that will be looking forward to seeing her again. It's always sweet to get a new con crew rolling after all.

I was going to avoid buying snacks and gear till I got physically closer to the con to cut down on packing space and weight, but we came across two things last night while shopping that we just had to get. Don't want to ruin the suprise, but I'm sure they are going to be a big hit.

If it will ever stop raining I'm going to put my tent up and let it air out a bit. I need to get a new air matress or camping mat though. I'll likely see if I can't get my hands on another tent or two, I'm not sure how many people have their own and if we are going to have our own gypsy den of ill deeds we need more tents. Hell, even if no one sleeps in them I want a decent number of tents. We could at least use them for storage.

Good lord what a con.

I do not regret a single dime that went into that con even if I thought I had over prepared at first. If nothing else, my newest claim to fame is that Bubble guns have been hence forth banned from that convention =3

Swimming, drinking, jumping hurdles, singing, dancing, sneaking, strutting, snacking, cussing, string fighting, and a little bit of spanking. All in all I would say we did what we went for, and I made some awesome new friends on top of hanging with some classics.

Even going to work the day after the con can't really get me down, if nothing else it's just giving me a break from doing laundry. I slept for just about 12 hours after my traditional welcome home bubble bath. Used the last of it actually, I need to buy some more.

Alas, my narrative is a bit disjointed and bare boned, but that's what comes from posting from work as has been my habit for a while now. Getting to the last 30 minutes of my shift so I'm going to start clearing up paper work and getting the last of my duties out of the way.

Later!

Today was good. It was slow enough that I didn't have to run around like mad, and busy enough that we'll make plan this month. Very pleasing. On top of that I was actually able to take a lunch today, had some really good thai. Bangkok is now Sunai of Thailand, this is a good thing because the food is SO much better now. One of their appetizers is actually a small crisp cup filled with delicious that you spoon sauce over to your liking before you pop the whole thing in your mouth and enjoy.

There are five things that I want/need to happen when I get home:
1) Ferret maintenance - non-negotiable
2) Shower - Alternatively bubble bath but at the cost of other items.
3) Karate Class - I need exercise, but I don't really wanna
4) Dinner - Noodles does not a full days food make
5) Internet Time - Could be a good way to cheer up, but not compatible with bubble bath

There is also the chance I'll just sit down and refuse to move till either I run out of pirated films, books, or art inspiration before crawling into the shower and then possibly sleeping there. I wonder if I could sleep in a shower? Sounds kinda cool.

Closing time.

So I've been out of it again, but this time with medical reasons. I was getting more and more congested till I finally just went to the doctor. X-ray showed my lungs were still clear and my bone structure was "unremarkable" so it's all in my tubes it seems.

Pills here to take care of the propblem and I haven't needed an inhaler hit since about day 2 so it's safe to say I'm well and on my feet again. Downside is that I skipped paying my cell phone to cover Rx and general Doctor costs, hence no cell service right now. Sorry to any friends that have tried to text or call me since this all went down. I still have net at home and a working land line, I just let go of the not so bare neccesity of my cell.

In other news I've been teaching Shotokan Karate to my room mates as a good "get off my ass and do something" incentive. It's so much more appealing to me to do something like that than it is for me to just up and decide to work out. Since we're in the basics right now it's mostly flexability and general technique training which is all around good for anyone's health.

I'm hoping to drag my brother into it when he gets back from what ever trip he's on to double check my memory of kata and training order.
I'm working from 3pm to 11pm now which has really messed with my social time on the net, though irl we had a decent party at our place last Sunday. We had the place cleaned up and organized so it actually looked like someone's house instead of just a bunch of storage rooms.

With the help of Josh my bedroom looks like a cozy den of nerdhood now instead of a just a bed and some shelf space. I just need a bigger computer monitor so I can watch movies from the bed and I would be totally set. Well, that and we need to get a wireless adaptor for the xbox so I can lose the lan cable. That thing throws off fung shui like a steak dinner at a vegetarian convention.

Anyway, I'm really pumped about the steampunk ball this coming January. Hopefully my friends will go with the Pendulum of Versailles: The Nobility of Steam concept I threw at Paige earlier. It should prove to be boss enough to make Russians bad ass again. Of course, before I get too excited about something happening so far in the future there is MFM to contend with. Time off, check. Local friend going, check. Distant friends confirmed, check. Now all I need to do is put together a pack-o-many-things and life will be good. Need glow sticks, and rec gear for all the things we have planned after all. Of all the cons I go to MFM has the least to do with the city it happens to be in and the most to do with just chillin out with the con folk for as long as the magic lasts.

It now lives in the XBrick 360 and can be enjoyed on way too big tv in the long room. I am pleased by it's delicious 80's spiciness.

Thing Two is Bad:

Transformers 2 was better than the first. Optimus Prime kicked ass as he was born to do. I am now out of good things to say about that movie. Without spoilers I can honestly say that two dogs having gay sex, illiterate transformers with terrible ethnic accents and gold teeth, and a tiny decepticon humping a woman's ankle are just a few things you have to look forward to in this "blockbuster."

To use a direct quote from the movie I felt like I was "directly below the robots scrotum" towards the end.

The term was coined by psychologist Dorothy Tennov to describe the ultimate, near-obsessional form of romantic love.[1]

The concept is an attempt at a scientific study into the nature of romantic love. Limerence can often be what is meant when one expresses having intense feelings of attachment and preoccupations with the love object.

According to Tennov, there are at least two types of love: limerence, what she calls "loving attachment", and "loving affection," the bond that exists between an individual and his or her parents and children.[2]

Limerence is characterized by intrusive thinking and pronounced sensitivity to external events that reflect the disposition of the limerent object towards the individual. It can be experienced as intense joy or as extreme despair, depending on whether the feelings are reciprocated.

Unlike English, many other languages have traditional terms to denote limerence, like the German Verliebtheit, Scandinavian forelskelse, Brazilian Portuguese paixonite, or Russian влюблённость (vlyublyonnost); these expressions may roughly be translated to “fallen-in-love-ness”.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, that explains a few things.
So yesterday I took some time to run around and relax.  My friend Tiff and I went to New Orleans with a hazy idea of what we were after.  There was first year anime con in Baton Rouge, but apparently it blew hard according to reliable sources, so we hit the Audubon and the Aquarium of the Americas instead.
They sell tickets for both at the counter, but they sorta failed to mention that they were miles apart from each other.  We parked at this really pretty lesiure park/golf course and walked to the zoo where we got the tickets, and after walking around for a while we tried to find the aquarium for it's fish and sweet sweet AC.  The sea lions didn't help us at all, tight lipped bastards.  The lemonade guy though, he told us we needed to get out of dodge.  The upside to getting sorta lost though was that there was an Asian cultural festival going on and we were able to walk through that even if we didn't stay for long.
So many sting rays at the aquarium.  I just wanted to wear a shirt with Steve Erwin's picture on it that would say "Never Forget" and give everyone the evil eye when they got excited by the rays.  Of course, that didn't stop me from going to the petting pool and petting the little things.  There was an albino one, he was pretty boss, but there was this grumpy guy in there who was shaped differently and super dark skinned.  I think he planning on taking me down.  Oh well, the baby nurse shark was cooler than he was anyway.  Shame Tiff's camera died, I only have crappy cell phone pics of the otters and some of the other critters that were around.
Even though we only spent an hour or so at each place it really does feel like we spent one day at the zoo, on day at the aquarium, and then ANOTHER day wondering around New Orleans.  We were both folding in on ourselves with hunger by that point and while I was stubbornly looking for the French Market Tiff found the restaurant with the ultimate fried pickles.  I was a bit wary at first, but it was some monstrously good food.  No normal stomache could hold a full plate by itself in that place though.  Neither of us could finish or food.
All in all I have to say it was an excellent day.
Last week we even had a lighter audit just so we would know what REALLY needed work before the short angry guy came in today.  Even though we had really been doing a lot I wasn't looking forward to this in the least.  I'm pretty proffesional at work, but does anyone like having a high ranking offical poking them when they are trying to get their work done?
I skipped buying lunch because I wanted to get in to work extra early today, might as well get that good impression in there while I can, and I march in with full uniform already set to go complete with name tag.
Here's the lucky part.  The guy actually showed up earlier in the day and had already left even when I came in early.  Here in a few minutes when things die down I'm going to go back for that lunch I missed out on and I've already unbuttoned the top button of my polo shirt.
Let us see what other good fortune is on it's way <insert evil="evil" laughter="laughter">
    <lj:music>I've seen everything</lj:music>
I do hate getting up early, but alls been pretty groovy so far.  I'm sipping a milkshake and pretty much on top of my workflow, not to mention my friends have all really been there to keep things interesting this weekend.
Ealier in the week Melissa and her James hit the house for "The Secretary."  An interesting love story, definately not main stream though.
A random jell-o shot quest with Tiff this week where I learned a few important things.  One, Party Universe is a-MAZE-ing.  We must have lost nigh on two hours in there.  Second, just because the police show up to a house party that doesn't mean they are there to shut you down.  Apparently they were just there to clear the street, people had parked in the actual middle of the road.  I also got to try Karocks in Elisville that day.  Everything was fried.  Pickles, chicken, the bread sticks; I think they fried the tea before brewing it.
Craig and the Hobbie team put our weekend game off for a day so I wouldn't miss out on it, and that was very welcome.  I was afraid of where the game was going and I was kinda ready to see the whole thing crash and burn, but I just had lacked the perspective to see how each of the events had been intertwined.  Very stoked for this now.
This is a pretty ADD post, normally I would much prefer to write in the style of a narrative, but from-work-posts generally end up being me throwing out summations of my trains of thought in between customers and it really can't be avoided.  Also, James has introduced this little gem into my day during a lull so of course I have to pass it on.  It's Patrick Stewart for Data's sake!
<lj-embed id="4" />
Today my friend John passed away.  He's had a terrible medical history, and for all that it might sound cold or harsh, there was no real shock in his end.  Having survived a botched surgury, a case of honest to god flesh eating bacteria, and living with Diabetes, there was only so much that could be done when he contracted a viscious round of pnumonia.
He feel ill after going to the coast to visit his father, so an up side there is that he had a chance to be with his family one last time.  He never remembered his abilities, and he forgot to use his in character voice all the time.  Rolled more nat 20's than the rest of the players combined, but he was always a fun guy to game with.
He's not hurting and he had a damn good run all things considered, so goodbye John.  Thanks for having us over every Sunday, and I never felt put off by the gay jokes.
This pleases my NES roots something fierce.
<lj-embed id="3" />
Other notes of awesomeness = I FOUND EXOSQUAD ON DVD LAST NIGHT!!!!!!
I can not express in words the sheer volume of bad ass that this series contains.  I would have to super charge a puppy and teach it how to play the guitar for anyone to understand what an amazing sight this dvd is to me.
Is that a beagel rocking to dragon force on a strat?  No.  That's my season 1 dvd of exosquad, but I can see how the awesome confused you there.  They look an awful lot alike.
I am pleased.  Notice the mood?
A good day so far in the middle of a good week.  The only real down side has been missing Easter with my grandparents, something I didn't even do when I was in foster care for a year.  I woke up with WAY more time than I needed to make it there, but I think I was dead at the time.  I rolled around for about an hour before I called up the grandparents to let them know I was backing out.  The three hours of sleep that bought me were just what I needed though.
Tiff and I took a trip to the coast to bitch at sea gulls and generally have a lazy day.  I think we must both be amazingly delicious because the beach kept trying to swallow us up.  Never got more than most of the way to our knees though, go tall people.  The sand on the other hand, it tried to take us down.  We tried to rinse it off at the car, but the wind was blowing so strongly that even when we rinsed off we got a fresh coating before we could shut the doors.
Hello, Sear's public restroom.  Tiff lucked up and no one walked in on her, but I had two guys show up.  One of them almost walked into my foot while I was holding it out under the blower.  At least my feet were clean at that point =3
The best Sushi in MS has to be Samurai's on the Gulf Coast.  We were not prepared for the staggering selection nor the size of rolls that were put before us.  I think Tiff actually ate more than me.  Josh and Lane saw that the surviving pieces were never heard from again.
I keep trying to update here, but work is pushing in on my personal space.
Also, I just gave directions to Celta for Leatha's BBQ so he and Paddlefoot are on their way to meat heaven.  Curses.  I took my lunch break to get mall chinese earlier so I must stay here till 10.  I brought this doom on myself.
So I picked up the latest Dresden novel last night after work.  Shockingly, I did not start in on it immediately, my priorities kept me away from it from awhile followed by my house being full of lively guests.
All in all though I didn't REALLY get settled in for some serious reading till much later in the night.  I have no qualms at all about adding this book to my shelf in all it's hardback glory.  I'm willing to admit that I reread the first two pages just to be sure I didn't miss something important, the book started a bit more abruptly than Jim Butcher's usual fare and I was willing to believe that the pages had stuck together.
I won't go into details because I don't want to spoil anything about the story, Dresden novels always have a delicious story line and it would be nigh on a capital crime to ruin it for anyone.  Of course, the reverse of this is that I need some friend some where to read this thing too so I can start getting my geek on and discuss how the latest revolations affect my personal theories about the over all story plot.
Get to it, somebody.
Sunday really felt like two days to me.  First there was the morning shift, which went by uneventfully, than there was the day after.  Apparently it was meet at my house day.  Josh tried to teach Rachel how to cook while Kyle and Tracey goofed around on Second Life in the ferret-arium.  Becky wasn't too interested in that so she hung out with Ryan, LeeAnn, and her two buddies in the living room.  All the while Tiff and I munched pickles and sought limades while throwing in our two cents where ever they would cause the most damage.
Eventually Lane came home and he just had to bust out the guitar.  He left for a bit at one point and returned right as Tiff and I were heading out.  He started to block Tiff’s ride in, so we walked over and asked him to park elsewhere.  We come back about 20 minutes later and he’s standing asleep next to his car which is still running.  Apparently he REALLY wanted that parking space and he’s worried the starter in his car giving out so he was loath to kill the engine.
Even after everyone left there was still a bit more to do as I finished up a writing project with the help of many loud amv’s, pendulum, postal service, and because SOMEONE wouldn’t be quiet about them a bit of death cab.
Today’s been decent even if I refused to wake up this morning, and I walked in on Rachel in the livingroom while I was blind, wet, and in my bathrobe.  Fedex Office is currently on Papa John’s 50% off list, so pizza is the name of the game.  I really should have let someone else order because my fast food curse kicked in and we got mushrooms on our pizza instead of the delicious bell peppers I was looking forward to eating.
The last part of today’s update comes from Lane.  He saw this picture laying around and decided he HAD to have it digitally so he can take it with him when he ships out.  So as requested, my militant roommate, here’s that picture.
Oh the sleepy.
I am infected with it.  Stupid entertaining Internets that keep my attention.  Anywho.
FWA went well.  The con itself wasn't too exciting and I've decided that the city of Atlanta is a terrible place to even visit, but I still had a blast thanks to the people I hung out with.  From random chinese with a girl I have never met before to the random bouts of rum from Puppy's magical hip flask it was a good time.
Don't judge the makeup too harshly here.  This was a one hour job instead of the three hour I had the day before, and there is no sense in white base and gold paint turning grey.  The gods of facial make-up were not with me.
Post con I can say I am VERY glad to have the next two days off.  I have every intention of being a major slacking goof-off till Sunday.  Aside from watching episodes of Maria+Holic that is, a task I must complete under threat of no more free coffee.
Lane's back in town from his training, but it seems he still has some responsibility as I don't really see him about much.  This could also be due to the fact I work evenings while he is now a creature of the day.
Persona 4 still has me in it's unrelenting grip.  I've logged over 75 hours now and I fully intend to play the new game+ version once I beat it after many more hours of play.
I know this post wanders around like an Alzheimer's patient in a fun house, but it's late.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.  Current plans are for Thai food tomorrow.  Delicious, delicious Thai.  How I look forward to it.
Later.
